Clayton Shorthouse Memorial Triathlon
The Clayton Shorthouse Memorial Triathlon is back for 2026 at Ebbw Vale Sports Centre!
This triathlon is ideal for beginners and features a range of races, including a Junior Aquathlon for children aged 8 - 14 years:
Relay Event: 400m Swim, 10km Cycle & 2.5km Run (£30 per person)
Super Sprint: 400m Swim, 10km Cycle & 2.5km Run (£15 per person)
TriStar 1: 150m Swim & 1.5km Run (£10 per person)
TriStar 2: 200m Swim & 2km Run (£10 per person)
TriStar 3: 300m Swim & 3km Run (£10 per person)

The course is well-supported with numerous volunteers ensuring participants have a smooth and enjoyable experience.

Swim-Run Event
Dive into adventure with our Swim-Run event at Parc Bryn Bach!
Teams of two will take on an exciting multi-discipline course combining open-water swimming and trail running around our stunning lake and surrounding parkland.
You’ll complete alternating swim and run sections, staying together throughout the race. The total course includes 2.8km of swimming and 6km of running, offering a mix of scenic trails, grassy paths, and refreshing lake swims. Navigating the course is a balance of endurance, teamwork and strategy.
The event is suitable for seasoned racers or first-time swim/runners and promises fun, camaraderie, and a fantastic test of fitness in a breath-taking Welsh setting.

Entry Cost: £25 per person
Location: Parc Bryn Bach, Tredegar
Team Format: Pairs (must stay within 10 metres at all times)
Total Distance: 8.8km (2.8km swim / 6km run)
Equipment Required: Wetsuits, goggles, swim hat, trail shoes suitable for wet conditions, hand paddles and pull-buoy (optional)
Transition: No formal transition zones – run and swim in the same kit (competitors must have all their kit with them during the run and swim)
Safety: Swim safety support will be on the water throughout; all participants must wear a swim cap (can be provided)

The Gingerbread Man: Outdoor Trail
Join Louby Lou Stories for a fun storytelling trail around the park this half term!
Run, run as fast as you can and help poor old Grandma come up with a plan!
After baking a delicious batch of gingerbread, one of the cheeky little fellows has decided to make a run for it around Fairytale Forest!
Get your imaginations and your fast feet at the ready, as we track down this mischievous runaway on an exciting storytelling adventure at Bedwellty House & Park.
This is a 60-minute, outdoor storytelling trail which takes place across the park grounds. Please note, our trails head out in all weathers, including the rain, so please dress accordingly for the day.
Trails take place 11am - 12pm and 1.30pm - 2.30pm
Recommended age: 3+
