Book Club Day UK 2025
This week our libraries across Blaenau Gwent are celebrating Book Club Day, a national celebration of book clubs, connection, and community from The Reading Agency.
Throughout the week we will be celebrating the power of shared reading, promoting the positive benefits that being part of a reading club can bring to people and hopefully fostering a community of readers.
Research from The Reading Agency, which collated information from book clubs across the UK, shows that:
94% read more widely, feel more connected to others and talk about reading with others
91% find reading more enjoyable when they can discuss the book with others
90% feel happier
78% feel more confident to try other things
77% read more
They also found, participation in shared book clubs is linked to enhanced relaxation, calmness, concentration, quality of life, confidence and self-esteem, as well as feelings of shared community and common purpose.
If you have ever thought about joining a book club, we have several book clubs based in our libraries across Blaenau Gwent:
