Connecting with Nature for Better Wellbeing at Parc Bryn Bach

Happy Healthy Blaenau Gwent recently organised a Wellbeing Walk at the beautiful Parc Bryn Bach, bringing the community together to enjoy the restorative power of nature. The event highlighted how spending time outdoors can boost mental and physical health, reduce stress, and create a sense of calm.

Participants were joined by Blaenau Gwent’s Biodiversity Officer, Becky Ward, who shared fascinating insights into the benefits of nature for wellbeing. Becky brought along some incredible nature treasures, including feathers, bird skulls and owl pellets, sparking curiosity and conversation among the group.

The crisp, sunny weather made the walk even more enjoyable. Wellbeing Coaches Leanne Evans, Elise Hughes and Gareth Martin were on hand to support and encourage everyone, and their enthusiasm added to the positive atmosphere. Even well-behaved dogs were welcome, making it a truly inclusive experience.

With plenty of water birds to observe and binoculars available for a closer look, the walk offered a chance to slow down, appreciate the beauty of the park, and connect with the natural world. Everyone left feeling refreshed and uplifted—a reminder that sometimes the simplest activities, like a walk in nature, can have the biggest impact on our wellbeing.
