Inspiration for Everyone!
The Friends of Bedwellty Park’s commitment to developing and improving the grounds of Bedwellty Park has been passed on to future generations.
Responsible for the glorious sensory garden at the park, the Friends, a group of volunteers, have shared their wealth of knowledge with students of Ysgol Gyfun Tredegar Comprehensive School’s gardening club and their Bronze-level Duke of Edinburgh awards class. Ebbw Vale College’s additional learning needs group has also benefited from the experience of working with the volunteers and learning new skills in the sensory garden.
The students showed commitment and enthusiasm to assisting the Friends and helped with planting, weeding and watering the garden – all essential to maintaining the sensory garden for visitors to enjoy.
The Friends of Bedwellty Park don’t only tend the sensory garden; they’ve built the planters and delightful archway, the benches and pathways and are now developing the woodland area next to the sensory garden.
The sensory garden, along with the general park grounds and kitchen garden have been entered into the Wales in Bloom 2026 awards which was judged in July with the results announced in October.
The Friends are a friendly group and welcome new volunteers to help with the maintenance of the sensory garden and development of the woodland.
