Storm Goretti Update - Friday 9 January 2026
Here’s an update for Friday, 9th January on our venues and services following the adverse weather conditions caused by Storm Goretti:
Adult Community Learning
All adult community learning centres are open today, but classes will be provided online or re-arranged. Learners have been notified of the changes.
Bedwellty House & Park
Both Bedwellty House and Bedwellty Park are open as normal today.
Parc Bryn Bach
Parc Bryn Bach is open today, but will be closing at 5pm instead of 7.30pm tonight.
Sports Centres
Ebbw Vale Sports Centre is partially open, due to the power being lost during the evening to the pool, and staff availability accessing the centre. Currently we have the gym, sauna, and steam room open. The pools and jacuzzi will be closed until the issue is rectified. We will advise further updates as they develop.
Tredegar Sports Centre is open, but the Aqua class this morning is cancelled.
Abertillery Sports Centre is open as normal however the pools are closed due to the refurbishment, but the gym is open as normal.
Libraries
Abertillery Library will be open at 10am.
Blaina Library is closed today.
Brynmawr Library is open.
Cwm Library is open.
Ebbw Vale Library is open but will be closing for lunch from 1pm - 2pm.
Tredegar Library is open.
